1000s Miles Away

You sit in a room I cannot reach
wrapped in silence
wrapped in time
as the world outside moves without you
I imagine you staring at the walls
at the ghosts of yesterday
at the empty chair
where no one comes to sit
I am here
but not near
A thousand miles stretch between us
a thousand things unsaid
a thousand moments lost
to the hands of a clock
that will not turn back.
I cannot hold your hand
cannot fill the space beside you
cannot change the loneliness that lingers like dust in the air.
But I see you
I remember you
And if love could travel on the wind
I would send it whispering to your door
to rest beside you
where I cannot be
